December 2011:  Celergo Joins Inaugural List of Best and Brightest Companies to Work For in the Country

Chicago, IL – For the first time in its history, the National Association for Business Resources has named the Best and Brightest Companies to Work For™ in the country.  Celergo, a global payroll provider based in Deerfield, has been selected as one of the first-ever companies to receive this prestigious national award.

The 2011 winning companies were assessed by an independent research firm which reviewed a number of key measures relative to other nationally recognized winners.  They include Communication, Community Initiatives, Compensation and Benefits, Diversity and Multiculturalism, Employee Education and Development, Employee Engagement and Commitment, Recognition and Retention, Recruitment and Selection, Small Business and Work-Life Balance.

With more than 10 years of experience conducting Best and Brightest Company competitions, the National Association for Business Resources (NABR) have identified numerous best HR practices and provided benchmarking for companies that continue to be leaders in employment standards.

“Nationally recognized award recipients keep innovative human resource initiatives at the forefront of their company culture and make it a priority to consider their workforce as an essential aspect in their company success.  Our Association is proud to recognize and honor these winning companies for this fine achievement,” said Jennifer Kluge, NABR president.

The companies that have been selected to be recognized nationally as a Best and Brightest Company to Work For™ will be featured in January’s online edition of Corp! Magazine.  The winning companies will also receive additional recognition as a national winner at a Best and Brightest Companies to Work For™ awards symposium and gala at a location of their choosing in several U.S. cities.

The “Best and Brightest Companies to Work For™,” a program of the National Association for Business Resources, is presented annually in five markets: Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago, Houston and West Michigan.

August 2011: Celergo Ranks No. 848 on Inc. 5000 with Three-Year Sales Growth of 365%
Chicago, IL -- Inc. magazine ranked Celergo No. 848 on its fifth annual Inc. 500|5000, an exclusive ranking of the nation's fastest-growing private companies.  The list represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy—America’s independent entrepreneurs.  Online retailer ideeli tops this year’s list.  Celergo joins Spirit Airlines, television maker Vizio, Honest Tea, Dunkin Donuts and Metrokane, makers of the Rabbit corkscrew, among other prominent brands featured on this year’s list.

In a stagnant economic environment, median growth rate of 2011 Inc. 500|5000 companies remains an impressive 94 percent.  The companies on this year’s list report having created 350,000 jobs in the past three years, and aggregate revenue among the honorees reached $366 billion, up 14 percent from last year.  Complete results of the Inc. 5000, including company profiles and an interactive database that can be sorted by industry, region, and other criteria, can be found at www.inc.com/5000.

"Now, more than ever, we depend on Inc. 500/5000 companies to spur innovation, provide jobs, and drive the economy forward.  Growth companies, not large corporations, are where the action is,” says Inc. magazine Editor Jane Berentson.

Methodology
The 2011 Inc. 500 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2007 to 2010.  To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2007.   Additionally, they had to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2010.  (Since then, a number of companies on the list have gone public or been acquired.)  The minimum revenue required for 2007 is $100,000; the minimum for 2010 is $2 million.

August 2010: Celergo Makes Inc. 500 List for the Second Consecutive Year
Chicago, IL – The 29th annual Inc. 500, an exclusive ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies, ranked Celergo No. 359.  This is the second consecutive year that Celergo was included on the Inc. 500.  The list represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy - America’s independent-minded entrepreneurs.  Companies such as Microsoft, Zappos, Intuit, GoDaddy, Zipcar, Clif Bar, American Apparel, Oracle and many other well-known names gained early exposure as members of the Inc. 500.

“Fast growth at any time is a big achievement; fast growth during the past few years is just short of miraculous,” said Inc. editor Jane Berentson.  “The Inc. 500 consists of these just-short-of miraculous companies, the ones that through ingenuity and ambition have increased revenue, hired employees, and grown fast in difficult economic times.”

Celergo is a global payroll service provider to multinationals in over 95 countries.  Celergo streamlines a client’s payroll process by utilizing a centralized approach and methodology across the world.  “We’re tremendously excited to be recognized for Celergo’s growth,” said Bert Brown, Chief Operation Officer and co-founder of Celergo.  “Our team helps clients with complex global business processes and the growth is directly attributed to the success of those partnerships.”

The 2010 Inc. 500, unveiled in the September issue of Inc. magazine and on Inc.com, is a group of companies that are smaller but much faster-growing than last year’s crop.  Aggregate revenue is $11.3 billion - down from last year's $18.4 billion - but median three-year growth is 1,231 percent, substantially up from last year’s 880.5 percent.  The companies on this year's list employ more than 45,000 people.  Complete results of the Inc. 500, including company profiles and an interactive database that can be sorted by industry, region, and other criteria, can be found at Inc.com/500.

Despite the ongoing recession, the 2010 Inc. 500 offers a glimpse of the future of the U.S. economy.  In the health sector, which saw aggregate revenue of $1.1 billion and a 917 percent median growth rate, businesses are moving forward on cancer and stem-cell research, clinical trials, and medication management. More than 25 percent of companies in the energy sector ($2.5 billion aggregate revenue; 942 percent median growth rate) focus on solar and other alternative sources. Fewer than a third of retailers ($356 million aggregate revenue; 914 percent median growth rate) have even a single brick-and-mortar store. And the number of companies providing technical services to the various branches of the federal government continues to rise.

Methodology
The 2010 Inc. 500 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2006 to 2009.  To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by June 30, 2006.  Additionally, they had to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent - not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies - as of December 31, 2009.  (Since then, a number of companies on the list have gone public or been acquired.)  The minimum revenue required for 2006 is $80,000; the minimum for 2009 is $2 million.

September 2009: Celergo Named to Inc. 500 List of Fast Growing Companies
Chicago, IL – Inc. magazine ranked Celergo No. 98 on its 28th annual Inc. 500, an exclusive ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies.  The list represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy – America’s independent-minded entrepreneurs.  Companies such as Microsoft, Zappos, Intuit, GoDaddy, Under Armour, Jamba Juice, American Apparel, Oracle and hundreds of other powerhouses gained early exposure as members of the Inc. 500.

“If you want to know which companies are going to change the world, look at the Inc. 500,” said Inc. editor Jane Berentson.  “These are the most dynamic, fast-growth companies in the nation, the ones finding innovative solutions to problems, creating smart systems, and inventing products we soon discover we can’t live without.  The Inc. 500 list is Inc. magazine’s tribute to American business ingenuity and ambition.”

Celergo is a global payroll service provider to multinationals in over 90 countries.

The 2009 Inc. 500, unveiled in the September issues of Inc. magazine and on Inc.com, reported aggregate revenue of $18.4 billion – up significantly from last year’s $13.7 billion – and a median three-year growth rate of 880.5 percent.  The companies on this year’s list are also responsible for creating more than 55,000 jobs since their founding; making the Inc. 500 perhaps the best example of the impact private, fast-growing companies can have on the overall U.S. economy.  The largest company on the list, flat-panel-TV maker Vizio, broke the $2 billion revenue mark.  Complete results of the Inc. 500, including company profiles and an interactive database that can be sorted by industry, region and other criteria, can be found on Inc.com.

Despite the ongoing recession, the 2009 Inc. 500 offers a glimpse of the future of the U.S. economy.  In the health sector, which saw aggregate revenue of $1.1 billion and a 917 percent median growth rate, businesses are moving forward on cancer and stem-cell research, clinical trials and medication management.

Celergo ranked No. 6 on the list for fastest growing companies in the Chicago metropolitan area.  Led by CEO Michele Honomichl, Celergo ranked No. 9 on the list for fastest growing companies run by a woman.  And Celergo ranked No. 10 on the list for fastest growing companies in the Business Products & Services category.

Methodology

The presentation covered various aspects of ensuring companies are maintaining their compliance on expatriate host taxes.  Topics include:  What is a shadow payroll?  When is a shadow payroll required?  How to set-up a shadow payroll?  How are shadow payrolls integrated with local payrolls in each host country?  How is US shadow payroll different than shadow payrolls in other countries?

Michele Honomichl and Janet Roome presented “Global Payroll:  A Case Study” at APA’s 27th American Congress, May 19 – 23, 2009 in Long Beach, California.
This session illustrated a case study of a client that “spun-out” from a parent organization, which required the HR team to launch payroll in over 20 countries with little internal support.  The presentation covered challenges of the launch including data gathering, parallel testing, benefits, communication, accounting and funding.  Attendees learned about how this company overcame these challenges to create a world class consolidated payroll program worldwide.

Celergo has supported numerous companies which were divested or spun-out from a parent organization.  These clients face different issues than a client with a current global foot print looking to improve their payroll processing.  Divestitures need to set-up entities, determine benefits, review collective agreements, determine pay dates and define funding methodologies.  Through Celergo’s extensive experience with these situations, its experienced staff can provide invaluable insight into how to cover the challenges of launching an international payroll in an often compressed timeframe.
